One can't help but notice the resemblance to a black French poodle of our puppy's namesake, Rene Descartes.

Kiera's NICU Days
I didn't start the blog till Kiera was 6 months old and in danger of dying; so here are some early days pics for those who didn't know her when she was so small.
Mommy's first chance to hold Kiera on day 2, just over the heated bed.
First Kangaroo Cuddle at 5 days old, 1 lb 6oz, she lost a little weight like all babies after birth.

In the 3 lb range, the blanket is a security blanket or burp cloth size, folded in half. When I got it as a gift before she was born, I thought, "What a ridiculously small blanket!" It ended up being just perfect for her.
Clothes my grandma knit for me, I'm about 4 lbs, watch me self extubate! :)
Halloween 2006, 4 lbs 4 oz, Mommy made a Tinkerbell Costume, Kiera was already "actual size."
Thanksgiving 2006 about 6 -7lbs, first 0-3 month sized outfit
Christmas 2006, 8-9 lbs, trach ties being used as head gear to try to keep her from extubating again before her trach surgery
January 26th 2007, post trach surgery, restraints to keep her from pulling on it, 10lbs, very puffy from steroids and pulmonary hypertension
Our Valentine in an induced coma after pulmonary hypertensive crisis, 2 wks after trach, 30% chance of survival
